Exclamation X won't start up - nVidia module issue, tried to install X11 6.9.0 to get Xgl

As you may already consider, I am a slight problem - I would consider it a problem - as X won't start up with the startx commando. Given, the error seems only to have something to do with the nvidia driver module.

It started after I tried to install 6.9 version of X11 to try and get Xgl. If I can get X back, Xgl is nothing of importance! I just want it back.

Anyways, here are the logs of my X files:

http://sviip.dk/random/xorg.log < This is the cut down log.
I am not sure if the full log file contains valueable information, I'd like to keep for myself, so I won't show it to you yet. If you can asure there is no problem from my point of view (only gain as you might be able to fix my issue), I'd gladly upload it.

I hope to get a reply soon. Thanks in advance.

obviously you have a problem with your nvidia driver.
Did you redo the nvidia installation after your X upgrade?

You can split the problems by first getting your X to work with a basic VGA driver. (I think there is a basic nv driver that is a dummy for the nvidia driver. no 3D but your X should work) Once that works you can focus on getting your Nvidia to work.
To do this goto the device section and change nvidia to nv (or another basic driver).

This has come up before. The NVIDIA drivers that you are probably running are not compatible with X 6.9/7.0. The most recent drivers seem to fix this incompatibility. You may have to install it twice if it warns the first time that libGL.so is not a symlink. You may also have to recompile your kernel if your compiler version changed and you have not already recompiled your kernel using that version.

I tried going for the 'nv' dummy driver. It got X started. I will try with 'vesa' afterwards, cause it was the driver Xorg.conf seemed to have when I installed Slackware.

However, X may be running, but I don't see any X Window Manager. Well, not one I know if you get my meaning - just a bunch of 'xterm' windows.

Also, tried to get the new version of the nvidia driver from nvidia.com, which I shall try to install. Well, I hope to edit this post with new - and hopefully good - information.

Edit:
I installed the new nvidia driver, but now X complains that the 'glx' and 'nvidia' module does not exist. Should I attempt to reconfigure glx and nvidia? I'll try anyways...
