X.org 7.0 on Slack 10.2??
First of all, hello to everyone, I'm new here...
I'm creating this thread because I want to know if anyone has succeded in upgrading X to Xorg 7.0...
Is there any tgz package available? The point is that I want to install XGL, but I don't know if this is possible... I'd seen many howto's of different distros but not slackware
Does anyone has an idea on how to do this?
Thanks.

Why don't you use the X11R6.9 provided in Slackware repository? Basically it's the same. Here are the press release from Xorg Project
Quote:
Brookline, Massachusetts, December 21 2005. The first major version release of the X Window System in more than a decade, X11R7.0 is the first release of the complete modularized and autotooled source code base for the X Window System. X11R6.9, its companion release, contains identical features, and uses the exact same source code as X11R7.0, but with the traditional imake build system.

Plus it's available on slackware.com. And if you did an install of slackware-current you already have it install.

I think you guys missed his point. Yes xorg 6.9 is essentially the same, but XGL will not work with 6.9. You have to have xorg 7. As for xorg 7.0, one of the dropline devs has xorg 7.0 packages. They are not fully stable yet the last time I checked. Search around on the dropline forum.

Thanks a lot! I'll wait for Dropline GNOME 2.14 release (I think this week or the following will be available) which includes Xorg 7.0, so I can test XGL
See you.
