Try Slacky-eu, they have Slackware-packages and also SlackBuild scripts (in src):

http://www.slacky.eu/repository/slac...ython/2.8.4.2/

I've just compiled wxPython from source which also contains wxwidgets. I downloaded the source from sourceforge: http://sourceforge.net/project/showf...group_id=10718 (look for wxPython-src-2.8.4.2.tar.bz2)

and followed these guides : http://www.pcbypaul.com/linux/wxCompile.html
http://www.wxpython.org/BUILD.html

- doing a combination of both sets of advice to suit my purposes. There is also a Slackbuild available at :http://www.slacky.eu/repository/slac...n/2.8.4.2/src/

which will automate the compilation for you and a pre-built package at http://www.slacky.eu/repository/slac...ython/2.8.4.2/.

These sources and packages contain both the python wrapper and the underlying libs needed to run wxpython apps in python. - I had to 'roll my own' rather than use the pre-built packages as I was having problems with the OpenGL functions but YMMV. You may also find this post usefull regarding building a package from the compilations and various options : http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...d.php?t=423979

I was not compiling wxX11 - -looking at the wxWidgets website this appears to be wxWidgets for embedded applications. Out of interest - I downloaded it and it compiled OK. This was on Slackware 11 so I tried it on Slackware 12 and it compiled OK too. Incidentally, you did read the compilation instructions in the docs/x11/install.txt ?
I.E. to compile run:
Code:
./configure --with-x11
make
su
make install
ldconfig
exit
The "--with-x11" is needed or a compile error occurs. I'm not sure how this version of wxwidgets will react with the wxpython wrapper however.
