No. What IS ridiculous is people whining and panicking when the situation has been explained to them.
When it actually should be FIXED. And, as you may have noticed, I am not the only one who's whining.
And the number of whining who annoys you so much would be much less if they could get a response from the site.
Situation explained ? Let's see
'A guy comes to a hospital to see his sick wife. Every time he comes he finds closed doors without any notice.
When he looses his patience and starts shaking the doors the annoyed doctor appears saying: "we've explained you
two months ago that your wife got a hardware problem, so go away and stop whining"'.

It has been explained, numerous times actually, and this constant call to panic stations is really very silly. All it takes, on everyone's behalf, is a little time to read the information that has been provided by reliable sources. Once you have done that you would realise you are making a mountain out of a mole hill. Move on, build a bridge, get over it.

Why should it be fixed? What do you need it for?
You can still use your OS and updates are being released, so why are you whining?
I'm just getting into Slackware and managed to grab a few different install images and update an installed system all while the website was down. If I as a new Slacker can do that I can't understand why anyone is whining about this.
Hey! I'm already having to deal with there not being a spoon! Now you're telling me the bathroom has gone too!
Right, that's it... I'm drawing a line at the Kettle! There is definitely a Kettle! And it's staying that way!
Before anyone else starts screaming "you see, I knew it, Slackware is dead"... I have shutdown my "taper.alienbase.nl" mirror server because the server hosting that virtual machine is being moved to a different data center. It will be back up - Slackware is not dead and not dyimg either.

I am actually pretty sure that Slackware is an operating system, not a web service. So the site is down. And? Does that prevent your OS from running? Does that prevent you from reading in this thread or in this sticky where the problems are and where mirrors are?
I simply fail to understand at all why it should be a problem when the website is down. When you want to go to the website that implies that you actually can read (not much pictures on that site, besides the propaganda stuff), so where lies the problem in reading where the mirrors are?

Reason: Sorry, another thread same subject:http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/slackware-14/distrowatch-donates-to-slackware-this-month-943703/
Is it so difficult to organize a (DNS redicrected) page with appropriate information, so that thosands of devoted slackers didn't feel like they're some unimportant cattle ignored by developpers ? A hardware problem that needs two months to fix it...
First, don't press ENTER at the end of each line.
Second, this is why it's taking so long:

"There are also offers for virtual space, and (most helpful of all), some people offering to take a look at the main issue, which is that the site will need work (perhaps even a rewrite) to bring it up on a new machine."
This isn't surprising when you realize that the old server was "an ancient VIA based system with a Celeron and 512MB of RAM" (http://linux.slashdot.org/comments.p...5&cid=39828905), which almost certainly wasn't running the latest web stack or libraries.
(I've sent Pat an offer to redo the site in Wordpress. He hasn't replied; I guess he's still considering his options).
