It's just that some people think Slackware development stops whenever the website goes down. People, there is a lot of activity behind the scenes, and reviving a stupid web site is not going to take away precious time. The next ChangeLog entry will have nice updates to play with.

Thanks Eric!

We have created new threads/posts and some wiki information to hopefully help.

GIMP 2.8 is out. XFCE 4.10 would probably take unreasonably long time and it's already more than a year since 13.37

GIMP 2.8 need a bunch of system libraries to be upgraded, that may take some time, and some members here have already made packages for XFCE 4.10, so it should be not too difficult to integrate that.
Besides that, this statement from AlienBob speaks for itself.

Xfce 4.10 is actually an easier bump than 4.8, so expect 4.10 at some point - we'll be skipping 4.8, unless something unforeseen happens.

Re the new deps and such needed, yeah, there will be a lot. Quite a bit of churn will occur this time, it appears.

Yay X has been upgraded, mind you I've been running the latest for while now.

Some FYI though

pixman 0.25.2 is beta (0.24.4 is the latest release version)
The drm stuff in git has an API change coming through that you may want to get when the next lot of releases come out for libdrm and friends.
If anyone asks cairo 1.12.0 is buggy as all hell (I have yet to test cairo 1.12.2)
And xfce should be recompiled against the new xcb

EDIT

Also the libX11 is a beta version if you drop libXi back to 1.5 you can keep the current stable version or wait and upgrade when they do a proper release

just upgrade to the latest update and nothing is broken so far, so i assume it's a smooth upgrade to newer XOrg and Mesa

For starters I am a realist. Also words can lie. Look at the actions - dont listen to what is said by those developers and slacklfanbois.

What are the actions. The site is still down. The second period that the site has been down. This is one thing we know.

Slackware is - or was - a good distro. But again still no new release - another action/thing we know.

Its strange that anyone who shows any form of realism is immediately labelled a troll or something. Its so easy to reject what we dont like to hear in a convenient package. Life is not that simple so get over yourself. Should I call you a troll for practically calling me a troll??

this topic it's the first stickie of the forum and there's also this in this same topic (and this if you want to hear from the man himself): hardware failure of a webserver doesn't mean anything on the status of a distribution.

I suspect that you are not familiar with slackware or you should know that "it's ready when it's ready".

The xcb-util upgrade made it necessary to recompile i3wm 4.x but on the other hand, the installation of AwesomeWM (version above 3.4.11) will be less intrusive now.

Thank you.

Actually, other than the missing libffi.pc pkg-config file from the gcc-java package, all the version bumps needed to run the new gimp version went on cleanly using the existing slackbuild scripts in current.

Obviously, there could be knock-on issue the bumps introduce, but as yet I haven't hit any.
