wrong qt paths reported by kde4-config

Since last week my systems fail to start kde or compile any kde apps.

After a brief investigation, it turns out that kde4-config reports all the qt-* path with the prefix /usr/bin (e.g. /usr/bin/bin, /usr/bin/lib, /usr/bin/include) instead of what it used to be /usr/lib64/qt/.

I have no idea when that started to happen nor can I find what is causing the problem.

I have reinstalled all kde and qt package but it has not changed anything.

I run slackware 64 14.2 multilib (alien) with additional packages from either alien repo or SBo.

Any clues as to how to proceed to fix this?

Someone had the same problem and reported it here: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...us-4175584697/

Well I have now looked at all the pkgconfig files and there doesn't seem to be any signs of the wrong paths in those.

I really can't see where kde4-config is getting these paths.

I guess my next step is to remove all SBo package and see if reverting back to a vanilla install solves the problem.

is qt5 also installed ?
if so there might be a mis match in the versions of qmake and the config file used

Thanks for the suggestion, that's the first think I though of but at the time had not reinstalled qt4 after removing qt5.

I have now removed qt5 and qt4-compat32 and reinstalled qt4 on top of that but still no luck.

I wish I had a blank box I could start from scratch rather than having to kill one of my machines....

I had the same problem, due to installing a package that erroneously included a file /usr/bin/qt.conf . I removed that file and after that I could log in again.

AH! yup that fixes everything! indeed I had mendeleydesktop built from sbo which included that file! once removed, every thing started working again!

Well spotted!

Thanks
