Wrong proc speed
 
Hey, uh i have a 400mhz mobile PII, but when i dmesg, or cat /proc/cpuinfo it says i only have a 100mhz proc. Uh does anyone know what is wrong or how i can fix it??? please help cuz my laptop is super slow. Thanks

check your BIOS setttings and see if your cpu was de-clocked ...
if in fact your info is legit ...

If you kernel supports it, it may scale the cpu clock back when the battery is low or during times of inactivity.

in the bios it says that its 400mhz, even when my laptop is plugged in it says its 100mhz.
