wpa_supplicant and iwl3945

I was informed that if /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1.conf is configured properly, there's no need to run wpa_supplicant from rc.local; wpa_supplicant should be started when the appropriate driver for the wireless card has been loaded (iwl3945 in my case). Well here's what my rc.inet1.conf looks like: http://alkos333.net/hosted/rc.inet1.conf

However, when I load iwl3945 module, wpa_supplicant doesn't get started. It works fine if I run it manually or from rc.local, so there appears to be something wrong with the rc.inet1 configuration. I don't want wpa_supplicant to connect to any APs on start-up - just want it to start, so I can issue wpa_cli and pick one of the appropriate APs I defined in /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf

You need a small edit:
Code:
IPADDR[4]=""
USE_DHCP[4]=""
Here lies tyour problem. Slackware will only try to activate an interface if either it has a fixed IP address assigned to it (IPADDR[4]="xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx" with a correct NETMASK and GATEWAY of course) or it is set to use DHCP (USE_DHCP[4]="yes").

Your rc.inet1.conf misses both of these. Pick one and it should work.
