wpa_supplicant-2.4 breaks ability to connect to WPA2-Enterprise

After recent upgrades, I could not connect to my university's network. Re-did the connection data for 100 times , but no use. The connection works nicely on an android cell phone.

A search found the following thread:

http://lists.shmoo.com/pipermail/hos...il/032685.html

It seems to imply that the problem atm can only be solved by downgrading back to versions 2.2 or 2.3, which might run into security issues.

Any ideas? Can someone point me to a wpa_supplicant-2.3 package, please?

Thanks
Franz

Hi Franz.

Try disabling TLS1.2 by adding phase1="tls_disable_tlsv1_2=1" to the appropriate network block in wpa_supplicant's conf file.

If that change allows you to connect, it's likely your university uses a buggy FreeRADIUS. In that case, contact the IT department
and alert them they should upgrade to the latest version.

Let me know if this temporary work-around fixes.

If mancha's suggestion doesn't work, I have posted a link to the previous version of wpa_supplicant for your downloading pleasure:

wpa_supplicant-2.3-x86_64-1.txz

Hope this helps. Happy Slacking!

Regards,

Matt

Thank you for your kind answers. Up and running again.
@mancha: Unfortunately, your work-around didnīt work. Nothing changed, I think.
(added: PS. Our university runs Cisco wlan routers)
Here, the last lines of the log running 2.4:

EAP-MSCHAPV2: Authentication succeeded
EAP-TLV: TLV Result - Success - EAP-TLV/Phase2 Completed
wlan0: CTRL-EVENT-EAP-SUCCESS EAP authentication completed successfully
nl80211: Unexpected encryption algorithm 5

wlan0: CTRL-EVENT-DISCONNECTED bssid=00:17:df:a7:f7:ec reason=3 locally_generated=1
wlan0: CTRL-EVENT-REGDOM-CHANGE init=CORE type=WORLD

@mattallmill
Thank you for the nice package. All is well after downgrading.

I also checked upgrading again, and re-downgrading. Old version works, 2.4 does not.
Thanks again. I'll not mark this solved though, because the problem still exists, even if i can do my work now

Thank you all
Franz
