wpa problems with ipw2200

Hello, I have been trying to get wpa to work so that I can connect to my home network but every time I run wpa_supplicant, I get the following error.

ioctl[IPW_IOCTL_WPA_SUPPLICANT]: Operation not supported
Failed to set encryption.

Does any one know what this means or how I could fix it?

I am running Slackware 10.2 with kernel 2.6.13, an Intel PRO/wireless 2200BG wifi card with ipw2200 1.0.8 and wpa_supplicant 0.4.7. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Did you compile wpa_supplicant with support for IPW?
Running "wpa_supplicant" without parameters should mention "ipw = Intel ipw2100/2200 driver" under the "drivers: section. If not, you should enable support in the defconfig file. Look at my package for more info: http://www.slackware.com/~alien/slac...pa_supplicant/

If that does not apply, you could try updatying the wireless-tools package because the version that comes with Slackware 10.2 does not fully support the newer Wireless Extensions in the 2.6.13 and upwards kernels. Look here: http://www.slackware.com/~alien/slac...ireless-tools/
