1: unsupported codec
video codec MS WMV 9 (win32) (wmv3)

2: A problem occur while loading a library or a decoder: wmvmodule.dll

I have downloaded that dll-file but don't know where to put it...

I know the latest Windows Media 9 codec wasn't supported. It may still be the case. Not sure. I used to get that error as well but haven't seen it in awhile. Is it small enough to post somewhere or is there a link for it already?

I've the very same problem, but I don't think just including some DLL's into the linux box would be the solution, there should be something more ... linux-like, shouldn't?

Any ideas?

From Mplayer-1.0pre7 Documentation:
Quote:
Win32 codecs: If you plan to use MPlayer on x86 architecture, you will possibly need them. Download a codec package from our codecs page and put the codecs in /usr/local/lib/codecs BEFORE compiling MPlayer, otherwise no Win32 support will be compiled!

Features:
* you need this if you want to play or encode for example movies recorded with various hardware compressors, like tuner cards, digital cameras (example: DV, ATI VCR, MJPEG)
* needed if you want to play WMV9/WMA9 movies.
* Not needed for old ASF's with MP41 or MP42 video (though VoxWare audio is frequent for these files - it's done by the Win32 codec), or WMV7. Also not needed for WMA (Windows Media Audio), libavcodec has open source decoder for that.

Get the full codec pack at the MPlayer web site, create a directory /usr/lib/win32 and extract the archive there.
Both mplayer and (g)xine will find them there and use them of course. It will enable you to play about everything under the sun.

Hmmm... So thats why I haven't seen that error in awhile. I just assumed you already had your codecs in place so I didn't mention it.

I'm suprised you were able to play much of anything without it....

My understanding is that /usr/lib/win32 is deprecated, with /usr/lib/codecs now preferred. As such, I follow almost the same advice as given. The difference is that I create the directory /usr/lib/codecs and extract there. I then make a symlink to /usr/lib/codecs called /usr/lib/win32. This makes sure to cover all the bases.
