Wireless (Ugh, Yes I know...)
Hi, I am looking to switch over to Slackware from Ubuntu because I want a more "Geeky" linux. I like to get my hands dirty, and Ubuntu is like latex gloves to me.
But the only way I can get internet now is with wireless. I was able to get wireless working with ndiswrapper in Ubuntu.
So, do you think it is also possible to get wireless working in Slackware with ndiswrapper? My wireless is a bit hard to get to work because it is a USB adapter.
If you guys think it is possible, or at least probable, then I will make the switch.
Thanks!

I'm a trucker and use wireless constantly while on the road. I use ndiswrapper and have no problems getting online at any hotspot I visit.
Go for it.

Pay attention to these files: /etc/rc.d/wireless.conf and /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1.conf, as Slackware don't have a /etc/network/interfaces file to do the setup.
In the last (rc.inet1.conf), you don't have to put a lot of information; only the interface name (I believe ndiswrapper use wlan0), IP address and subnet mask.

The documentation linked around on the NDISWrapper site is excellent and will tell you exactly what to do. I have never needed to do anything Slack particular to get this to work on my laptop or desktop. Also check out the broadcom driver in the 2.6.17.x kernels if you use that chipset. Atheros also has native drivers, as does prism and intel. You may not even need to use NDIS.

Slackware doesn't include ndiswrapper drivers on the cd.
Unoffical ndiswrapper packages for the default kernel and 2.6 in testing are here:
