Wireless problem (iwconfig)
Hey all, this is my first post so take it easy..and also fairly new to the world of linux. Im having problems with my linksys wireless pci card.

The problem is geting my linksys wireless pci card connecting to the linksys access point. I've heard to use a tool thats in slack 9 called iwconfig..i tried using the man pages but they..well stunk. I can set the ssid to "linksys". But when i try to change the freq. its gives me this error, " Error for wireless request "Set Frequency" (8B04) : Set failed on device eth1 ; operation not supported" It gives me the same type of error when i try to set the channel as well. Any suggestions/help for this problem? Am I even doing the correct steps to set up a wireless connection on slackware 9? me.

you can edit a file called wireless.opt in the /etc/pcmcia folder. Read the file and follow what it says and you should be set.

I don't know slackware, but in Mandrake the wireless configuration is kept in /etc/sysconfig/networking-scripts/ifcfg-eth0

(or eth1)
