i have just bouht a wireless keyboard and mouse set which i have installed,

but with slackware the keyboard is working fine apart from loosing the layout in X11 (to us form uk,) (works fine in the CLI)

About the keyboard issue: Edit /etc/X11/xorg.conf. Go to the keyboard section (Section "InputDevice" --> Identifier "Keyboard1") and change to your needs, it should have two lines like this:

Code:
Option "XkbModel"	"pc105"
Option "XkbLayout"	"gb"

thanks, that has cured the keyboard trouble...
i now dont have to struggle to find | and remember that @ is swapped with " LOL

now all i need is to get the mouse working.
though mabie that will come with upgrading the kernel as the current one only sees one core in my dual core (AMD X2 ) processor

anyone know a good step by step howto for upgrading a slackware kernel?
