WineX Package for Slackware

After some looking around for stuff about WineX I don't se an answer to my question. Not a simple one anyway.

I read in places that you need a Win9x install somewhere for Wine/WineX to work. And in other places this isn't mentioned.

If I do a pkgtool install of winex****.tgz then I should be able to just do 'winex /path/to/setup/exe' right? Or this more I need to do. For all purposes of this question windows is not installed any any paritions.
