Wine or Winex on Slackware 9.0


Has anyone ever got Wine or WineX installed on Slackware 9.0? When I untar it there is not makefile or anything to gcc or compile at all.... Please help.. You can email me at Spam-This@txucom.net

i don't think you do configure/make/makeinstall when you install wine from source, i think all you do is go into the tools directory after you extract it and run ./wineinstall....anyone feel free to correct me if i am wrong...

For wine there are some *.tgz packages for it. www.linuxpackages.org From there you just :~# installpkg /home/user/foo/wine*

The one on linuxpackages doesn't have anything set up in it so you have to do that manualy. Or at least I'm having to. So far I haven't gotten it to work.

You will probably need to add "unhide" to your cdrom device options in /etc/fstab. (If you're using WineX). I know nothing about configuring WINE, though.

./configure --enable-opengl works just fine for both programs
