Wine Kmenu

Installed a new -current system at home and ran into an interesting problem.

Installed wine from Sbopkg and proceeded to install a couple of games which went just fine. But for some reason wine does not appear in the Kmenu/Applications as it always did in my other installs. The games start from the launchers in the .wine folder, but the menu entries were never created. Anyone ever run into an instance like this?

You have to put it there yourself. This is Slackware country.

Click on the 'K' in the lower left.

Choose 'settings' -> 'Menu editor'

Now just add a new application. Don't forget to save. And now that you know how to add one, you also know how to delete one.... Or move it to another sub menue.

That's not correct, wine can also create new menu entries by itself.

I had this problem once. I deleted all Wine related entries in $HOME/.config/menus/applications-merged and $HOME/.local/share/applications.

After that, wine created these folders automatically and filled them when I installed a new program.

fruttenboel..I am obviously a resident of Slackware country long enough to realize how wrong your response is. When responding in this forum it is common courtesy to have one's facts verified.

schmatzler...worked like a charm. Many thanks for your help.

Suddenly I remember why I left LQ a few years ago.

It is this kind of harsh reaction from nitwits and twits on posts. I did check in my system. I tried it in my system. As if I ave nothing else to do than help indiand get through their exams.

I'm out. For ever now.

Don't be angry, we are all making mistakes from time to time. Adding Wine entries manually is still often required when it isn't able to correctly rewrite .lnk-files.

Off-Topic: In my opinion, LQ is one of the friendliest forums I know, if not THE friendliest. Have you ever seeked for help in the Ubuntu forums? A lot of people there who think that kicking a cursor across the screen makes them an AHLP - Advanced Hyper Linux Professional.

Anything you say against them is harshly answered with sciolism. I will just seek for good assistance here.
