Wine from .tgz installed but no config file ..?
well well .ll ..
i just did a #:installpkg Wine-20030318-i386.tgz everything seemed to install ok, i.e no errors ... but when i just type wine .. i get the following msg ... *********************** bash-2.05b$ wine Warning: no valid DOS drive found, check your configuration file. Warning: could not find wine config [Drive x] entry for current working directory /home/umd/files/progs/irc; starting in windows directory. Invalid path L"c:\\windows" for L"windows" directory: does not exist Perhaps you have not properly edited or created your Wine configuration file. This is (supposed to be) '/home/umd/.wine/config' *********************** i know they say i have to edit the config and to read the readme but i cant find them in either the /usr/lib/wine /usr/bin/wine/ or /usr/include/wine ... which is the only place it shows me wine is in when i do a whereis ..... btw i added the ~/.wine dir it asnt there be4 that ... and its not in root either .... .. anyhelp would be appreiciated ... |
seems i found a set of files to dnld that had all the appropriate config and c files and all ... thanx ...
|
where did you find them, and what exactly did you download ?
|
the first time i dnld everything it was a tgz and was missing the.config mentioned above .... i went to www.winehq.org i think is there web site and found the config file under their FAQ and is the standard config ..all that really needs to be changed is the screen size nothing else really is changed from the basic config ...
I have since re-installed though and this time just picked up Wine-20030318.tar.gz from the sourcefore page ... if you goto wine's webpage the download section it takes you right there ... once you untar it just give the command ./tools/wineinstall from the wine dir in bash and all went well for me this time ... didnt use the slack version this time but its working .... |
If your getting the error: could not find wine config [Drive x] entry for current working directory etc.... what it's telling you is that the directory your running wine from is not in the wine config file. You just need to change to a directory that is in your config file and run from there. Hope that helps.
