It's kind of crazy how things have changed for gaming in the last 12 months.

I'm running World of Warcraft in DirectX 12 mode on Linux. Madness.

all I can do is hope AlienBOB makes a pass over it with his magic, multilib and staging...

One can go here, https://wiki.winehq.org/Download

click on "Slackware" (without the quote marks) and download the latest version of WINE.
I just installed, wine-4.0-x86_64-1sg.txz and it works just fine.
OTOH, I don't use it to play games.

My SlackBuild works:

I prefer builds without -staging these days. But that's just me.

And for winetricks:

Hey I was playing AM2R last night, and I noticed that gamepad rumble is working now.

Didn't have to set up anything. Just paired and connected the DualShock 4 using Blueman, and ran "wine" on the .exe. No udev rules, no winetricks, no controller setup with SDL_GAMECONTROLLER_CONFIG or userspace drivers or anything like that.

Thanks dugan for your SlackBuild which worked nicely on my system. I was hoping that this unsightly issue might have been solved in a newer release but unfortunately not .

vm.mmap_min_addr=9999 doesn't work for you?

I use '0' as suggested by PV but I had hoped for a native resolution, from within Wine itself...

But PV also alerts:

I always use
Code:
vm.mmap_min_addr=65536
This remove wine's warning and is the value suggested by the config help for CONFIG_DEFAULT_MMAP_MIN_ADDR (the Slackware default value is 98304).

Hmmm IIRC I had to set "vm.mmap_minaddr=4096" since after trying eSync recommended ulimit levels of 1048576 caused the "couldn't reserve range" error to reappear. Also I've been using Dugan's wine-staging package builder for a very long time and I had simply edited for newer versions, but since much of staging has trickled down into "stock" wine I wanted to try Dugan's new script linked above. For me it worked immediately on Current but I had to install python-requests (and it's dependencies) for it to complete on 14.2. It does work some better for me but my case may be odd. I use wine essentially for one game, World of Warcraft Wrath of the Lich King, and it behaves oddly. So far it still runs better with opengl than even with Vulkan despite many attempts to get a more stable fps which seems quite odd since many games even earlier run great with Steam Proton. I've tried launching WOW with Steam proton but wine with opengl still runs better and I have no idea why nor how to proceed beyond "just trying stuff". Wine 4.0 without staging does seem quite decent though.

Thanks, I have set this and will also experiment a little further...
