Window contents turn black when maximized in KDE
On Slackware64 13.37 with a Geforce 6150LE + Nvidia 275.09.07, the contents of a window turn black when I maximize it.
For now I've worked around it by disabling desktop effects, but was wondering if anybody had a better solution? Thanks |
After "googling" a bit your problem might be a bug in the newesr Nvidia proprietary drivers, some folks seemed to solve the problem by reverting to the 170.x drivers.

Had exactly the same problem just this morning. I simply replaced the most recent nvidia-driver and nvidia-kernel by the legacy version (173, that is). Everything runs fine now.
By the way, your sig almost made me spit my beer on the keyboard. |
Is the 173 series necessary?
I have an Asus M2NPV-VM. I use the on-board Nvidia nForce 430 / GeForce 6150 MCP51 controller. Almost the same chip set as the OP. I'm using the 195.36.31 drivers on 13.1 and have no problems. |
Thanks everybody.
I'll give this a try |
solid black or darkens? There is a 'feature' in KDE, turned on by default, that darkens all but the focused window. It's somewhere in the settings and can be turned off. Personally, that's a horrible feature if you have sloppy focus. But most people don't do that either.

Solid black.
But it's fixed now that I switched to the 173 driver |
