Will Slackware install on an old HP Pavilion?

I have an old HP Pavilion 6730 with two HDDs. I tried installing Ubuntu,Xubuntu,Freespire and Debian and it wouldn't take it. It did install Puppy Linux though. It has the i810 chipset. Would Slackware install on this machine OK? Thanks.

Slackware should go on there with little or no problems.

I have an HP Pavilion 523n and Slackware went on that well enough.

If you got your computer with a recovery partition though, watch that LILO doesn't send you to PC system recovery when you try to boot Windows.

I've been running Slackware on my Pavilion ze4315 since 2002.

You could try booting your computer with a Slackware based live CD like Slax and see if it recognizes your hardware. I think you should be okay.

http://www.linux-on-laptops.com/hp.html - the exact model isn't shown there, but you should be able to read up on similar models.
