The one KDE app I do use is K3B. The rest of KDE I don't need or want. |

To be honest, I can't think of a reason the alphabetic system is better. At least this way, things which are in some way related are next to each other. |

I have never had a bad burn with K3B. As much as I prefer XFCE or Gnome, I must admit that K3B is simply the best app for CD / DVD burning in linux. I can use cdrecord and growisofs from the terminal. I always use cdrecord for burning iso images of linux install CDs for example. There are times, like when burning a data backup DVD for example, that K3B is much more convenient though. |

I do agree about the layout similarities, but if the similiarities continued I'd dump KDE yesterday. |
For my part, I can't stand KDE 4.0. I have found that, on my machine,
XFCE is way more nimble. But then, I'm a programmer, and a command-line type of guy. My favorite file manager is MC and I found that apps like mplayer and qwenview did not launch well from MC in KDE. With XFCE, it is like I have a far faster computer. All the same: I wish all the luck to the visionaries on the KDE development team. It really does look great! I'm just not likely to use it except when I have company. But I think that KDE 4 will bring more users over from windows (I hope). cheers tim |
