wierd internet problems

Hello everyone,
First off I'd just like to say how great forum is, I just started messing around with slackware(and linux in general, other than a little mandrake) a few days ago and so far, every question i've had has been solved just searching through here.

bla, sorry bout that, I accidently sent it before i got time to finish my post...

But on to my problem, the thing that is happenning is when i boot up my machine, the internet is working perfectly fine, then it will just suddenly stop working after around 5 to 10 minutes. Also, it will usually not work for around the same amount of time and then begin to work again, creating quite an annoying cycle. I believe i set up everything in netconfig right also, I am on our universities network in the doorms, so I dont beleive we have a hostname or domain(maybe we do? i have no clue), so i just typed whatever for hostname and "localdomain" for domain. The one thing that seemed a bit odd was that i never got prompted to probe for my network card, which i thought it would ask me to do, possibly it just did it automatically.

The network card i am using is the onboard Intel PRO/100 VE on an Asus P4t-533-C motherboard. If you need any more info to help me solve this problem, just ask me and i'll post it up on here.

thanks a lot,
michael

oh ya, and i almost forgot, I selected the "use DHCP server to configure internet" option at the end of netconfig also.

Anyone got any suggestions? My internet works perfectly fine when i boot into XP. I really like slackware, it just sucks that my internet is being all screwy and not working :(
