wicd loses connection, and then no network found.

I am running Slackware 13.37 and using WICD for my wireless manager. Last night, I lost connection. Went to reconnect, and it cannot find any networks. My other systems see the network fine. If I reboot my system, all is well, until the connection is lost again.

Can anyone point me in the direction of an error log, or something that might be of some clues? My WICD log didn't show anything odd.

Thanks guys!

I get this sometimes if the screensaver kicks in and puts the system 'to sleep' did you try /etc/rc.d/rc.wicd restart or /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1 restart? permission issues? udev borked?

Exclamation

What kernel you are using? Currently I'm using 3.3.3 and had this problem since latest 4 or 5 kernels (can't remember exactly when) and atheros ath5k. The connection was just lost after some inactivity. I'm using these two patches and things are ok:

Quote:
Some calibration types interfere with tx activity, but the queue stop does
not prevent that. In fact, some calibration types need tx activity to properly
function, so stopping the queues for them is counterproductive.
In some tests this patch has been shown to improve stability, especially in
AP or ad-hoc mode.

All other Atheros drivers run the AGC gain calibration and DC offset
calibration only after reset. Running them periodically has caused stability
issues on some (primarily AR2315/2413/5413/5414 based) devices, leading to
messages such as:

ath5k phy0: gain calibration timeout (2462MHz)
ath5k phy0: calibration of channel 11 failed

change wifi channel to 6 and re-test for dropped wifi connection (change via router config)
