Why "slackpkg install-new" tries to install kde packages?

Hi

Maybe it's stupid question, but I can't find the answer ;) I have installed Slackware 14 without KDE (unmarked during installation), so why, when I run "slackpkg install-new", it tries to install about 20 or more kde packages like kalzium, kamera, kate, kanagram...?

Now, I know I can unmark them, but its pretty annoying to do it every time I update the system.

Because these packages were added, not since Slackware-14.0 but since Slackware-13.37.

In other words they have been added during the last development cycle.

"man slackpkg" says
Code:

install-new
This  action  installs any new packages that are added to the official Slackware package set.  Run this if
you are upgrading your system to another Slackware version or if you are using -current.

So you don't need to use that option on a freshly installed Slackware.

Just one other point

You don't need to run 'slackpkg install-new' regularly, only when upgrading the distro. If you already have 14 installed, you won't need to run 'slackpkg install-new' again until the next major Slackware version comes out.

Thanks guys, I didn't really expect an answer so soon! I'm new to Slackware and must have read some bad "howto" about keeping Slack up to date, but now I see how it works.

I will mark it as solved, thanks again.
