why my firefox very ugly?

Hi friends

I will work tell my thema problem with my little english

I am using slackware for 2 weeks.Slackware not look like debian

My firefox,pidgin etc. programs same windows 95 thema.I didn't turn to KDE thema of the programs.Why Programs of slackware seem very good(KDE) but firefox,pidgin,gxine same old.How am I change thema of the these.

Since I have never encountered any "bad looks", please let us know:
1) what version of Slackware have you installed?
2) Which desktop environment / window manager do you use?
3) Can you show what you mean with "old" and "ugly"? (provide a screenshot if possible)

I have installed 64 bit slackware 13.1
My slackware use KDE desktop.

I am working now, my slackware installed desktop pc at home, so I can update screensot after 7 hours.

Firefox uses GTK. You most likely do not have a GTK theme set.
Edit / create .gtkrc-2.0 file in your home directory.
Use gtk-chtheme http://slackbuilds.org/repository/13...p/gtk-chtheme/

There is also gtk-kde4 http://slackbuilds.org/repository/13...ktop/gtk-kde4/

Sorry if I am totally wrong (please correct me), but doesn't Firefox use its own thingy to draw widgets the same way cross-platform? If you want Firefox to look pretty in KDE, why not get this theme? I didn't test it personally, I use rein, das Monochrom, but it's reviewed fine.

Edit: indeed, Wiki says that Firefox 3 uses Cairo to draw widgets, but "when running on GNOME, will use icons from the environment". Let us know what looks better if you have a chance: Firefox theme or GTK2 theme (if it works at all).

I'm sorry to have to correct you, but you're totally wrong.

Firefox uses GTK to draw its widgets. The presence of its theming engine does not change that.

A Firefox theme and a GTK 2 theme will change different parts of Firefox's appearance.

I installed gtk-chtheme and after gtk-kde4 but not changed anything.I new slackware so I am trying slowly your solutions .I will look dugan's link.I realized dont only firefox most programs is same.I thing I have a general a problem.I will try again install gtk-chthema and gtk-kde4 and I will review all links.

You have to run gtk-chtheme after you install it.

(I apologize if this sounds insulting, but your post sounds like you installed gtk-chtheme and didn't launch it).

This thread helped me out too. I used gtk-chtheme to change to the XFCE theme and now SeaMonkey, especially the mail client, looks like a million bucks.

Also, mesuut, make sure you run gtk-chtheme as user rather than root. I was scratching my head for a few minutes as my themes weren't changing, but of course the root user themes were. It's early here heh need more coffee.

I have also found that running

xfsettingsd

in the terminal corrects the firefox ugly. I put mine in my .bashrc so it runs when I log in.

Edit: I notice this was already referred to, but I did not have to install anything.

Install QTCurve-Gtk2 and QTCurve-KDE4 . Select QTCurve in System Settings>Appearance>Style>Widget Style. Also run gtk-chtheme and select qtcurve. Have a look around the system settings, there are many options for customising your desktop.

Don't miss 'Desktop Theme Details' under the advanced tab.
