Wow. I was also Mandrake user. It was called Mandriva at the time though. I liked it.

About the topic ... dependency resolution is not really needed. It's just an additional layer of "bureaucracy" which works short term, but can be a trouble from a long term perspective.

Yeah ... I did Mandrake too ... picked a up shrink wrapped box set in a duty free ... Something about SuSe bothered me but I didn't know enough to know what so when I got home I installed Mandrake. It was pretty but seemed somehow too much ... again I didn't know much. Back then it seemed Linux magazines were often putting Slackware install disks on their front covers so I figured "why not". I had to know more in a short time and now, after 19 years or so I know enough to know I'm not inclined to bother running anything else except something I might cook up in buildroot for something very small.
