Why does autossh's rscreen rebind C-a to C-z?

This is not 100% Slackware-related, but people here are usually very experienced, so I'm asking here.

rscreen launches autossh like this:

Code:
autossh -M 0 -t $1 -o ServerAliveInterval=5 -o ExitOnForwardFailure=yes "screen -e^Zz -D -R"
Why doesn it rebind the standard C-a to C-z?

C-z seems more useful than C-a to be one keystroke away (rather than 2).
