Which user space should I have for radeon KMS?

Everything is actually working OK at the moment, the reason I ask is that I get an error via dmesg:

radeon: You have old & broken userspace please consider updating mesa & xf86-video-ati

I have mesa 7.7 and libdrm 2.4.18 from -current and xf86-video-ati 6.13.0 compiled separately. Movies works fine, quakelive works mostly fine(it doesnt seem to apply video settings when first starting) although it overheats quite a bit after a while.

Would getting newer userspace make things better? Otherwise why do I get this error/warning?

It's a harmless warning. You could probably update mesa to avoid that message but, really, there's no need. There have been some changes in mesa git that are not in a released version, yet, that provide accelerated blit. It would likely give you a speed boost in some situations.
