Get rid of KDE, xfce, wmaker etc. and just include a nicely configured version of Ratpoison.

I am joking..of course

or am I?

One that sticks out in my mind is rpm (but that may just be because I don't use it)..

Someone mentioned that xv should be removed so I am writing to state that I am using it. It might seem unlikely but it is the only tool we have to make screenshots on Air Traffic Control - Controller Working Positions (HP Alpha Servers running on True64). I am planning to use Slack's xv to train people on how use xv as the real Displays are usually occupied for Simulations, Testing etc. I truly hope xv will not be removed from Slack until a couple of more years.

As Pat Volkerding knows the xv developer personally, it is highly unlikely that this package would disappear from Slackware any time soon.

If you don't want something, do a selective install. The only thing that needs changing about Slackware is the new logo.

I think Slackware really should exclude the kernel packages, LILO, and all those new-fangled libraries - ALL of them. I just want a clean empty / on my system !

Hi,

If it's something you don't want then use pkgtool to remove it. If it's lacking something then add it. I like the basic Slackware then trim to suit my needs.

If it ain't broke don't fix it!

I never claimed slackware is broke or it doesnt suit my needs or anything like that. I just have the feeling a part of the available software is deselected by almost all people who perform custom installations.
