where to find packages sources etc

Im pretty new to linux in general. Took a couple classes on it a couple years ago in college, very basic stuff.

What im curious about is i started on ubuntu and hated it. But it had a package manager which would update from repositories.

Since i wiped that and installed slackware the slack package manager in kde is only looking for stuff on the DVD i think

How do i make this look and where do i look online for upgrades/updates/ and new programs i can put in other than what came default with slackware.

Thanks!

For security updates, check the main slackware site, and for new, updated packages check the download mirrors, notice the changelog.

For other packages also try Alien Bob's:
http://www.slackware.com/~alien/slackbuilds/
in addition to those mentioned by Alien_Hominid.

And for the rest, compile it from source ... and it will work just fine (in fact, I prefer this way).
