Where is slapt-get

Hi folks,

Just finished installing Slackware-11.0 with KDE 3.5 desktop. But I can't find "slapt-get"

# slapt-get update
-bash: slapt-get: command not found

# which slapt-get
Not there.

Pls advise how to install it from "Slackware-11.0 install" DVD. TIA

go to linuxpackages.net and download the latest slapt-get package, then run:

installpkg slapt-get-VERSION.tgz

then [as root]:

slapt-get --update
slapt-get --upgrade

that should be solid

I have "slapt-get-0.9.11g.tar.gz" download on KDE desktop. Which will be the corect directory for it to run decompression and installation. TIA

The correct dir for decompression would be /usr/src as you downloaded the source, not a package. Follow loservegs advice to get an easily installable package.

Now I have "slapt-get-0.9.11b-x86_64-1.tgz" download, also on KDE desktop. (I'm running 64bit Slackware)

Can I install it directly on desktop OR to put it somewhere? TIA

Doesn't matter where the package is. Just type
Code:
installpkg /home/satimis/Desktop/slapt-get-0.9.11b-x86_64-1.tgz
as root to install.

My guess would be this is some issue with x86_64 as installing obviously worked. but I don't have time to dive into that now as I gotta go to work...

Hi folks,

Tks for your advice.

Sorry, I made a mistake. The version of Slackware running on the PC is 32bit.

# arch
i686

I mistakenly thought it was a 64bit version. I'm now downloading the 64bit version on;

http://slamd64.com/

I'll start over again. Tks.
