where dose xfce keep it's menu files


I want to add some things built from slackbuilds and fix some things that are in the wrong place

go to:
/usr/share/applications

find the desktop file of the program you are interested in. Copy it to
~/.local/share/applications/

that's in your home folder. Open it in a text editor and change the contents of the category line:
Categories=
