Where are that thread about different code implementations

A few time ago (and I am pretty sure it was here) there was a thread comparing implementation and development of the same tools by GNU, BSD, Solaris, original Unix. Does anyone remember that thread? I forgot the name

EDIT: Here

I don't have seen that in this forum, but IMHO here or there would be a better place.

Hi,

A search for 'implementation and development of the same tools by GNU, BSD, Solaris' within Slackware Forum produces this: Linux vs Unix

You could refine the search parameters and probably find more links to information.

Hope this helps.

It wasn't that but it was worth the effort, the thread was very recent (this year) but I can't remember its name

That's not what you asked for, but if you're only in search of general information you could read this for instance and especially this part.

Information provided on Wikipedia is not always reliable (for instance, it's written in this article that after his mother's second wedding, "La futur poète [Baudelaire] ne sera plus jamais en contact avec sa mère" and that is totally wrong).

But information given in this forum is sometimes even less reliable, so... Just exercise your critical thinking about everything you read.

Off-topic PS. How to translate "esprit critique" in English? Critical mind, critical thinking, critical spirit?? Maybe I should just renounce to learn English

i posted two links comparing implementations of "echo" and "cat" on several platforms:

https://www.linuxquestions.org/quest...ml#post5135153

i used to have a link comparing "ls" (which made gnu bloat even more obvious), but search for yourself. you get the most fun out of it by comparing gnu to plan 9 implementations.

Thanks
