where are global aliases stored?

hi
i was tryng to redo some of the aliases. i added some to profile but but which file handles/sets this everytime someone logs on. i want to make it a global change and not have to change each user's .bash_profile. i tried setting dir in /etc/profile but it get overridden later. question is, by which file?

put global aliases in /etc/bashrc

the file doesn't exist but i'll create it. since that file is missing, where are the default aliases which slack 10 uses? defined where?

/etc/profile

It will however get overridded by /etc/bashrc and .bashrc and .bash_profile in user home dirs.

There aren't any default aliases. Aliases are usually user-specific, or machine specific.
Just create that file with the aliases you require. :)

.bashrc and .bash_profile does the job for me.
Those files kick major @$$.
