When does official support for 12.2 end?

Just wondering as I couldn't find anything regarding when official slackware support ends for 12.2?

And, does that assume that sbopkg support for 12.2 would also end at same time?

Thanks

The only official support comes in the form of security updates, and those go back a very long time. The recent security update for "sudo" went all the way back to Slackware 8.1 (released 2002).

As for sbopkg, that is simply a tool to interface with the SlackBuilds.org repository. As it is a community effort to keep the SlackBuilds updated, support will not so much end as simply fade away as fewer people are using older Slackware releases. Of course, just because there is a newer Slackware release doesn't mean a SlackBuild originally written for an older release won't work. If anything, the bigger problem is likely going to be changes in the source package itself, not Slackware.

Thanks MS3FGX for your quick answer.

So, basically support for 12.2 wont end anythme soon?

I know Vector uses 12.1, so guessing support is also ongoing for 12.1 too huh?
thanks

I was just wondering as whether or not slackware was similar to debian, etc in regards to releases but it seems slacks releases have a longer life, maybe true?

You won't need to worry about anything on 12.1 for a long time, many people are still running older versions than that with no problem. Slackware definitely has a less rigorous release and support schedule than many (most, really) other distributions.

12.2 updates should be around for a while yet. As for Vector that's only something they can answer I think.
