As others stated kernel 4.14 is LTS and is supposed to go stable in January. Also the next LTS version of KDE5 is supposed to be released on January 18. I would imagine it is a possibility they will make it in to 15 with a stable release somewhere in February or March after a month of testing and release candidates.

What he said.

I was thinking about the what I expect part. Since I use -current, I really would be expecting anything at all. I'd already be there.

I *almost* expect Slackware 14.3 before 15, *almost*. Keeping KDE 4 around for another release and letting loose KDE 5 with 15.

But it doesn't really matter to me. I use Cinnamon on top of a Slackware base. So it doesn't matter when PV releases IMO (I'm just happy when he does). My OS is pretty much dictated by when the Linux Mint team will finally catch up to the rest of the world and start using GTK+3.20+ (LM19).

I suggested SDL 2 once. Glad to see it's a part of -current now.

Only suggestion I'd make would be Openbox instead of the -- now very old -- Blackbox included with Slackware.

Otherwise, "more of the same" sounds excellent to me.

I've been using Plasma 5 for a few weeks and it works flawlessly except for baloo which I turned off. I needed KDevelop and KDevelop 4 is becoming incompatible with new software added to Current. Qt4 is pretty much gone from Plasma 5 and new software requires Qt5 from my understanding. I'm happy with Plasma 5. Alienbob has done a great job with it!

http://www.cafepress.com/profile/13904775 is volkerdi's, if you buy a mug there he should get the profit off that sale.

There is only three things that I would change in Slackware 15:

1. I'd like BIND to be replaced with Unbound.
2. I'd like Sendmail to be replaced with Postfix.
3. I'd like an "official" package for PostgreSQL.

That's it!

This being said, all of these (Postfix, Unbound and PostgreSQL) are super easy to add using whatever method you prefer (source code, slackbuilds.org, etc...) so that is a very very minor point.

You don't use Slackware because it has the latest and greatest kernel or software: you use Slackware because it works, it's stable, it manages pretty much anything you can throw at it and it gets out of your way and lets you do your job.

Thanks. I was aware of Cafe press, but I only see the flippy logo and as I've said before, not in this lifetime.

There are cups available with the "standard" logo from another source, but, unfortunately, not "official."

While I'm wishing, I would like to see more items with the "When you get Serious" logo.

Edit in: Just ordered a "When you get Serious" T-shirt from the Slackware store.

You can get them with the flippy logo. And yes, those are official.

EDIT: Too slow! Alien Bob beat me to it

+1. This is why anyone would use Slackware, in my experience.
