Well, I was under impression that he said the second word "slackers" like in "lazy guys" but I confess that the English language is not my strongest skill ...

No. In that context the term Slackers denotes people like me who are avid users of Slackware Linux.

That's how I interpreted it as well. Context of the immediately following sentence supports that interpretation: "Why do you think no one picks up on all these calls for participation on the forum for spin-offs and side-projects..."
