I really should buy some stuff in the store. Maybe soon if my paychecks are more I'll nab a T-Shirt.
Slackware, could in theory, ride without PAM forever. Even with Weston and Wayland it's optional for now though with Weston you have to fallback to effective permission setting. The logind-shim might be worth testing though if it's stable enough for usage. If not, ConsoleKit can still be useful, just not with Weston directly, then again X doesn't directly use it either, just the desktop environments.
As far as the version number... no way to tell but unless certain core packages change extensively, it may be 14.2, though if extensive changes are made, it may be 15.0 as past ChangeLog hints have always gone after. If not those, it'll just be Patrick's preference. For all we know, he could bump it up several numbers and we'd end up with 20.0.

On my -current system, I have this in Xorg.0.log:
Code:
[ 51.559] Build Operating System: Slackware 14.2 Slackware Linux Project
No idea what this really means, but maybe it will be 14.2 indeed.

Reason: Xorg.log -> Xorg.0.log

I don't want 14.2. I want a Slackware-15.0 release, just because I like the way it appears.
Regards.

I would so buy that! I suggested something similar but Pat wasn't very receptive of the idea.

A 14.2 makes sense

A major release implies major changes, with so much up in the air right now with systemd, wayland and the lack of clarity on what will be needed to support the various DEs with dependencies, it makes sense do a release with the security fixes, compiler and library updates already in current, and major components like KDE, X, etc bumped to their most recent but still compatible stable versions.
That will give the community some breathing room where lib versions and such will be new enough that most 'Applications' will build and run without major system modifications for a while. 14.1 has been a great release, a 14.2 with some version bumps would be welcome and will allow the wait and see approach on some of the upstream changes to continue, hopefully the smoke will clear in time for the tough calls and big lifts to get into a 15.0 release.
