what is dhcpcd[78] error message?

I was using my linux machine (slackware) as a web server using my router (DI-624) as DHCP server. It was working until I changed my ISP provider (from Sympatico {DSL} to Rogers{Cable} --ottawa). Immediately I switched back to my previous ISP provider, but the problem with the DHCP still remains.

The error message is something like this:

dhcpcd[78]: broadcastAddr option is missing in DHCP server assuming ... etc.

I guess the problem started when I switched the ISP provider and then run the setup wizard of my dlink router.

well the error should explain itself really... the DHCP options you are provided does not include the broadcast address, e.g. 192.168.0.255, and so it makes an assumption on what it would be based on the ip address and the netmask. You've not explained why this is necessarily a problem... it's just a notification.

Are you saying that it is not really a problem? I do'nt know if that notification was there before my web server or router failed, but currently the dhcpcd daemon does not run after boot time. I couldn't make it run also in the command line.

How do I know what the real problem is? I was able to ping the linux machine from my other computer.
