I like having "huge" as the default so you have a working distro before you have to learn about initrds and kernel modules and such.

I like having the choice. This way There's More Than One Way to Do It.

That would be awesome. That's one of the few things I really miss in slackware (As I mentioned in page two at this thread actually :P). Then perhaps it will be easier to make slackware a ldap client as well as an ldap server

It would be nice to have GNOME back on Slackware. I started to use Slackware since 12.0 and I used Fedora before. GNOME is the only thing I really miss. I know it can be installed, but it practically entails changing the distribution itself.

In addition to that, I'm smelling policy-kit and related $KIT that redhat keeps inventing on it's own to make gnu/linux complicated so companies buy support contracts.

I suspect it's due to kde 4.X series wanting that stuff for power management, etc.

I'd really wish the FOSS world would just knock it off with all of these console-kit, policy-kit, $KIT stuff that is ever changing, and under-documented for real user's.

Linux is starting to be a project of:

"How many $KIT app's can we build to try and give a user root priv's but not be root".

I really cannot think of anything I'd like to see in Slackware to be honest since Slackbuilds.org, rworkman's site, slacky, and alienbob's repo's all have very nice scripts to use. If those community site's were not available, well yeah, my need for things added would be much larger

The aufs patch instructions have always been available at http://aufs.sourceforge.net/ (section "3. Configuration and Compilation
").

How about a mini iso (boot only) so you can do a net install (lan/internet), like FreeBSD without having to download a full iso.

Take a look at 'mini ISO image' which can be used to do a NFS or HDD install.
