What do you use Slackware for?
This is a loaded questions. For some people the anwser might be everything! If possible I would like it to be more specific. For example: Desktop, Server, Media Center, Tivo, Gaming, Programming etc.
I am most interested in desktop setup. I spend a significant amount of time with AutoCad, Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash MX, & iTunes (for my ipod). This software is where my concern lies. To my understanding Crossover allow for Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash MX, and iTunes but not AutoCAD to be emulated into a linux enironment. .
Very simply, but possibly complicated, what do you use Slackware for?
With many thanks,
- mike

I have Slackware on one box and use it for coding and a test production environment. For me, it's been very fast and ultra stable.

Someone asked about this before. I replied with what I had seen on ticalc but never got around to trying it since calculators are not allowed in my calculus class. The link has the programs to transfer to and I think an emulator, good luck.
Post about it

I use slackware for more tasks than I care to imagine. But here are a few that spring to mind:

Local web development - PHP MySQL etc etc (ie "the usual suspects" )
General desktop usage - Web browsing, music, videos etc
Getting to "learn linux" rather than "learn redhat/suse/mandrake/fedora" etc - the main reason I switched to slackware 3 years ago
Mail server - procmail + sendmail + fetchmail + clamav + spamassassin + IMAP + horde = Central, globally available mail repository. Nice.
Local mirroring - rsync is my friend
File and print server
For use on older hardware - try to get XP to play nice with <128MB ram and/or <400mhz cpu
Programming - who programs on windows, unless it is specifically FOR windows. Seriously.
many more, but this is what I could think of off the top of my head.
any time I have built a slackware box (until very recently) it has been for:
-Router/Firewall
-Mail Server
-Web Server
-Web Proxy
-News Proxy
-DNS Server
-DHCP Server
-General Scripting dev ... sh/ksh/bash/perl
-Time Server
-File Share
All for my home network.
More recently (now I have breached the 1GHz mark *sigh*) I have been testing it as a desktop (I'm an old console fan from way back when) and now I am VERY proud to say that now I have managed to (legitimately) build a slack 10.0 reports server (mostly web based) for work (very large Telco)
