like? Why someone would like operational system? I am just satisfied with Slackware. Others distributions they do not give me such satisfaction. There is always something annoying. For me auto-magic is terribly boring. It just don't require user to get use to think. It is like diversity: to have skill to be able to made calculations by hand - or use all the time calculator. For me the latter is just sign of stupidity and to be lazy - and poor education. For Platon knowledge of music and mathematic was sign of educated person. Today I would add to these the knowledge what is machine, how it works - it is just mirror of human inability to do things correctly. All devices made are just broken from the day of their creation - nice thing is that people were convinced to belive it is opposite. So we are driving broken cars, using broken smartphones, etc. but thinking they are modern, technologically innovative etc. It just breaks my hart seeing people senselessly touching smartphones they keep in hands. But all this was predicted by K. Vonnegut in his excellent novel "Pianola".

Yes, I do like Slackware a lot. I like the fact that there is a dedicated maintainer who works tirelessly to freely provide me with an outstanding operating system. I am very grateful for the Slackware Team for their development efforts.
Without these people my computing experience would be vastly different. What's not to like?

I agree with almost all prior responses...Like Minds and all.

I would add, that Slackware is how a computer should be, its a tool to use with the user in charge, in other distros the OS is in charge and the user is the tool.

Slackware is Linux, a free Unix like OS, the others are becoming more and more clones of Apple/Microsoft etc... Let's remember that Linus' original name for this kernel was Freax (Free Unix), it was later changed to Linus' Unix (Linux).

PS: Pat's dedication to this distro reminds me very much of Linus' dedication to the kernel, also the core team, longtime users etc....

What I like the most about slackware is the slackware community. The documentation worked, so I didn't have to ask many questions; but when I did, the community welcomed the questions with welcome responses; I wasn't made to feel like the noob I was...

I tried a few distros before slackware (mepis,suse,redhat,ubuntu), but they didn't fit. Slackware fit.

Today, I use slackware because I'm lazy and don't want to learn a new distro... I already learned this one, at least enough of it to accomplish my meager needs (and I've needed it to run on powerpc, intel, amd, and arm), and it does!

I offer my humble gratitude, respect, and loyalty to Pat and the Slackware community. Thanks for this distro.

Everyone on the 'business end' that I've communicated with -- Pat, Eric, SB.org maintainers, etc., have all been exceptionally nice (thank you!).

Slackware gives me the highest level of confidence that it's my fault rather than Slackware's fault when something doesn't work.
