What do I need to get Gparted working right?

I just installed gparted in Slack 12.2 using the scripts over at slackbuilds.org.

I installed all dependencies listed there and all the dependencies of the dependencies

Gparted starts up fine, but as you can see from this screenshot:
http://www.vulomedia.com/images/47210snapshot6.png

A lot of features are missing. The main thing is I can't create any filesystems

Any ideas?

Thanks

There is also /sbin/fdisk in Slackware 12, and you can create some filesystems with mkfs.xx.

Yeah I just might use that instead.

But I like doing things like this with a GUI so I don't go wiping the wrong drive, lol

Edit:
So what would be the best way to create a fat32 filesystem on sdb1?
Would this be it?
Code:
mkdosfs -F32 -v /dev/sdb1

Did you start gparted as normal user or root?

I re-used 12.1 pkgs from slacky and they work perfect for me.

cairomm-1.4.8-i686-1as.tgz
glibmm-2.12.10-i686-4as.tgz
gparted-0.3.6-i686-2as.tgz
gtkmm-2.10.11-i686-1as.tgz
libsigc++-2.0.18-i686-1as.tgz
parted-1.8.8-i486-1ms.tgz

Then add kdesu (space) to the front of the K-Menu command.

Hm I'll try that, thanks.

Just use the Gparted live CD:
http://gparted.sourceforge.net/livecd.php
This is not part of Slackware; but it is a separate live CD that you can use to partition drives. It works well.

There is also the Parted Magic live CD:
http://partedmagic.com/

I actually just ended up using a Mint 6 livecd with gparted I had lying around to do partitioning.
