What and Where is the 'linux-gate.so.1' Lib?

In Slack 12, running 'ldd' on many (all?) executables shows:
linux-gate.so.1 => (0xffffe000)

Note that no leading dir structure is shown. If I do a 'find' on / against "linux-gate.so.1" or "linux-gate*" I get no results.

What is this mysterious lib, and where is it found? Earlier posts on this subject haven't helped me.

Re: The Mysterious linux-gate lib

Well, THAT cleared up the whole thing! To tell the truth, I never thought of a Google search on "linux-gate.so.1"

Google is my friend. Google is my friend. Google is my friend. There, maybe I've got it now.

An embarrassed,

Hehe, it's ok. Sometimes the obvious just seems too obvious. What's really interesting is that I had wondered what linux-gate.so.1 was several times before, but had never bothered to actually look into it... so I learned something too.
