Weird Wireless Networking Levels

As the the title suggests, I am alarmed at the weird wireless networking levels that my laptop is getting. When looking at the wireless networking applet on the KDE panel it says that I have the following:

Device: eth0
ESSID: Name
Link Quality: 100%
Signal Strength: 3%
Noise Level: 76%
Bit Raite: 11Mbit/s
Encryption: No Info

....these levels are with the laptop 6 feet away from the Linksys router.

The signal strength to Noise level ratio scares me. What can I do to boost strength and lose the noise? There aren't any electronic devices or metal objects to do weird things with the signal. I am stumped.

BTW, all of our networking stuff is Linksys 802.11B standard.

That sounds very weird indeed. I don't know much about wireless networking so my only suggestion would be to use another wireless NIC on the laptop, to discover whether the issue is software/hardware related. (Or even another router if you have one.)
