hi, i didn't have sound for a few days, but by accident i found out that if i adjust the headphone on the mixer, the main volume goes up, i'm using slackware 10.2 i've checked to make sure i'm plugged into the correct place in the sound card and it seems to be
just a thought, maybe he needs to runs 'alsaconf' redetect the card, then after it's done, run 'alsamixer' and move the sliders all up, then hit escape key, back to root prompt, and then type 'alsactl store' ...then '/etc/rc.d/rc.alsa restart"
maybe his alsaconfig didnt save/set his volumes correctly? so whenever he boots back in, his volumes are turned way down?
