Weird Grid in Display Slackware 14.2

Somehow I've inadvertently enabled some kind of grid on my screen. It's visible both in the plain terminal and with a GUI (in this case, KDE). I was not messing about in settings when it appeared, so I'm guessing it's some kind of key combination that I am unaware of.

You can see a picture here: http://pineviewfarm.net/weblog/wp-co...Slack_grid.jpg

If anyone can point me to how to make this go aways, I will be most appreciative.

More likely is some hardware issue on your LCD monitor.

Happened to have one which manifested right this way and I ended replacing it.

at the least you could get a water marker and play tic tac toe in your spare time. I know not helpful. sorry .. it's just a first thoughts reply.

I'd try removing / changing config dir/files names, then log out login method for starters.

found this

looks like it some type of software that displays a grid on the screen like you have using hot keys.

Hello,

This seems be the alignment grid of your monitor. You should be able to disable it with one of the buttons of your monitor or in the monitor setup menu. Reseting your monitor to its default settings should do the trick also. As it seems you own an Asus monitor, read this page.

Bingo! Thank you.

I'll be darned if I know how I set it off--maybe when I reached for my speakers' volume control which requires me to reach under the corner of the monitor where the buttons are. And you would think they would make the labels for those buttons easy to read, but, oh! no! dark grey on black grumble mumble gripe gripe gripe.

Once again, thank you.
