web browser problem in gnome

I was bored this weekend so I decided to download Slackware 10.0 this weekend and dual boot it with my Win XP Pro (cause I had to redo that :again: anyway.)

Amazingly, it worked on my first try. Since then I've recompiled my kernel to 2.6.7 and installed dropline Gnome, among other things.

But all through those changes I've had this continuing problem thats really getting to me:

When I'm in Gnome, no matter what web browser I use (Mozilla, Gaeleon and I think 1 other) I use I cannot simply click a link to download a file. Nor can I push buttons on websites. It just thinks for a little bit and then nothing.

I have to boot to windows to download what I want, or to post to boards like this.

I can download using scripts and such, but I figure I shouldn't have to.

Any clues?

That's very weird, never seen that. Try using Konqueror which uses it's own engine to see if it's related to Gecko (Mozilla and Galeon share that engine).

I had that same problem. I removed the mozilla package and reinstalled it, and that cured the probem.
