I found the official Arch installation guide to be a little too verbose to really be useful. Their Beginner's Guide though, is excellent. I used it to install and configure Arch:

Yup, Alien_Bob's wiki has been my "unofficial" Slackware bible.

I also agree that that the README's, and the stuff in /usr/doc/ are a valuable and often overlooked resource. One of the great things about Slackware is that most of the documentation you will ever need is already there on your computer!
